Are fire pits gas or wood-burning?

Our fire pit garden sets predominantly feature gas-powered fire pits for safety, convenience, and cleanliness. Gas fire pits use standard propane bottles with a regulator and provide instant controllable flames without smoke, sparks, or ash. Gas fire pits are ideal for patios and decking where open wood fires may not be permitted.

Do fire pit sets come with a gas regulator and bottle?

Fire pit tables include the burner unit and controls, but gas bottles and regulators are typically sold separately due to safety regulations. You'll need to purchase a propane gas bottle (5kg or 13kg) and compatible gas regulator from a hardware store or garden centre. Most UK fire pits use a standard 27mm clip-on propane regulator.

Can the fire pit table be used as a dining table when the fire is off?

Yes, most fire pit tables are designed for dual-purpose use. When the fire is not lit, a protective metal or tempered glass cover plate fits over the burner, creating a flush table surface suitable for dining or serving. The surrounding table surface remains cool even when the fire is lit, allowing guests to rest drinks safely.

Is it safe to use a fire pit under a parasol?

No, it is not safe to use a parasol directly above a fire pit. The open flame produces heat that can damage parasol fabric and pose a fire risk. If you need shade during the day when the fire is not lit, use a freestanding or cantilever parasol positioned to the side rather than centrally over the fire pit.

How much heat does a garden fire pit produce?

Garden fire pits typically produce 10,000-50,000 BTUs depending on burner size and gas flow rate. A mid-range 30,000 BTU fire pit provides comfortable warmth for a radius of 1.5-2 metres, extending your outdoor season into autumn and early spring evenings. Adjust the flame height using the control valve to regulate heat output.
