The weather may be turning Autumnal but before we all reach for our cocoas and scarves, there may be a way to enjoy the fresh air and peace of the garden just a little bit longer. Sure the weather is a bit crisper but there is nothing quite like soaking up the golden autumn sun.

Don’t abandon your gardens for the warm indoors just yet; here are some tips and ideas of how to make sure you get the most out of your garden space.

Extend your living space to outside

Do you have a patio or decking area outside your backdoor that you use for summer BBQs? Why not choose to extend your internal living space outside and create a functional space for gathering with family and friends or even taking some much needed down time for yourself.

Make it a home from home

Bring the comforts of your home to the garden. Create a welcoming place to curl up and read your book or chat with friends. Lay the space out like you would a living room, by opting for sofas and or daybeds you can recreate the comfort of your own living space while basking in the late Autumn sun.

Add soft furnishings

These days there are some wonderful options for beautiful yet functional all weather outdoor soft furnishings like cushions and rugs which will complete the look. A daybed with a snuggly warm throw is also perfect for this time of year if you are feeling a bit chilly.

Why not decorate ?

Just because you are outside doesn’t mean you can’t accessorise. Opt for lovely candles in glass hurricane jars and a vase or jug of seasonal flowers from your garden.

When evening comes around

When the evenings draw in it’s time to gather round the fire pit. Warm yourself by a relaxing fire with friends and admire the night sky. To light up the night opt for solar powered lanterns hung from branches.
